WHY WE INSIST ON COLD STORAGE

At Fiddlehead Brewing Company, we pride ourselves on freshness and consistency. Our beer is unpasteurized, which preserves delicate aroma compounds and allows the small amount of yeast left behind to stay alive. When stored cold, this yeast helps preserve our beer by scavenging trace amounts of oxygen. Above certain temperatures it begins to die and contribute off flavors. Cold storage helps us ensure that every Fiddlehead beer, whether on draft or in a can, is the same memorable experience.

WHAT HAPPENS TO BEER AT A WARM TEMPERATURE?

AROMA
The delicate hop aromas of pine, grapefruit, floral and dank, dissipate

CARBONATION
Carbonation releases, disrupting head retention leaving the beer flat and lifeless

COLOR
The color of the beer fades to a slightly duller hue

TASTE
Malt flavors develop a papery, honey quality and may taste a bit like cardboard with a lingering bitterness

HAZE
Haze is delicate and will disappear in warmer temperatures
